Scripting is a general term. In the web world it means some kind of relatively high level (user friendly at the expense of flexibility) programming of applications such that they work together in a way that makes money. HTML is a scripting language. So is Coldfusion. So is Javascript. Any deeper than Javascript and they start to call it "programming". When a WEB business gets too big for just an e-mail link, an intelligent database system program is set up at the server computer and configured specifically to work with your website. All e-commerse interaction and data gathering can be controlled by the serverside software, which can also be set up to be dynamically updated with "push" technology or XML. You can have the website take orders, send the orders to the warehouse for product shipping, calculate profit, and wire the profit money into your wireless smart-card while you lay on the beach in Hawaii...
